Singer, songwriter, actress, theatre director and journalist, Bartira Fortes is a multifaceted Brazilian artist. She lives between Brazil and Sweden, where she develops research on voice as an instrument of social and political transformation.
It introduces in her music what she calls “sound activism”, bringing up important issues such as racism, sexism, urban violence, xenophobia, fascism, social and gender discrimination, among others.
Bartira Fortes Brazilian Quartet is performing on Friday 20 and Saturday 21 December at 9pm featuring Jean-Sébastien Simonoviez piano, Alexander Sergeenko double bass, Mr Sticks drums.
